DK Shivakumar in Hubballi Reveals Timeline for Lok Sabha Candidate Selection
Hubballi: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has announced that the preparation of a potential list of Lok Sabha candidates will likely take place over the next 3-4 months. He disclosed that ministers have been entrusted with the responsibility of gathering public opinion and identifying potential candidates, with approximately 75% of these ministers having already conducted meetings in their designated constituencies.
Senior party leaders, such as KC Venugopal and Surjewala, convened in Bengaluru recently to establish specific criteria for selecting potential candidates. These criteria include factors like the candidate’s novelty, popularity, familiarity with the constituency, oratory skills, and more. Based on these criteria, the party will identify and select the potential candidates, he said.
DK Shivakumar’s visit to Hubballi was in connection with his attendance at a Kannada Rajyotsava celebration in Gadag city. When he arrived at Hubballi airport, he was warmly received by a group of second-line party leaders and party workers. Interestingly, a few MLAs and only a few elected representatives were present to welcome him.
